Spam Filters, Blacklists, and Safelists allow you to set rules to prevent spam email from reaching your mailboxes, and to ensure that email that is not spam is able to safely reach its destination.
Spam filter settings
All mailboxes include a filter to block spam emails using a protective algorithm. You can customize your organization's spam filter settings through the Mailbox Manager for individual mailboxes, or across an entire domain.
To customize spam filter settings:
- From the Speedyrails Manager, click Manage Mailboxes to open the Control Panel.
- Click Filter Settings in either the Email Hosting or Domains section.
The Status section displays the current spam filter level.
- On - The Spam Filter is filtering spam messages.
- Off - The Spam Filter is not filtering messages.
- Exclusive - The Spam Filter will treat all mail as spam except for addresses and IPs on your safelist.
The Email Hosting Handling section configures how the Spam Filter handles spam messages.
- Deliver to Spam folder - Deliver spam to the mailbox's spam folder.
- Delete the email immediately - Delete all spam upon detection.
- Include "[SPAM]" at the beginning of the subject line - Appends [SPAM] as a label to a spam email's subject line.
- Deliver to the email address - Forwards all email to a specific mailbox in your domain.
Spam Blacklists & Safelists
Blacklists and Safelists determine whether to block or accept emails based on a specific email address, a domain, or IP. Blacklist addresses, domains, or IPs cannot send email to your domain. Safelist entries always deliver to users even though it may appear to be spam email.
To add an email address or domain to a blacklist or a safelist:
- From the Speedyrails Manager, click Manage Mailboxes to open the Control Panel.
- Click Domains.
- Click Blacklists or Safelists.
- Fill in the Domain & Email Blacklist field with the email address or domain and click Add.
- Click Save.
To add an IP address to a blacklist or a safelist:
- From the Speedyrails Manager, click Manage Mailboxes to open the Control Panel.
- Click Domains.
- Click Blacklists or Safelists.
- Fill in the IP Blacklist field with the email address or domain and click Add.
- Click Save.
You can also bulk upload up to 5000 email addresses, domains, or IP addresses by uploading a .csv spreadsheet. Enter each address, domain, or IP on a separate line.
Blacklist/Safelist Search
The Blacklist/Safelist search allows you to search for specific email addresses, domains, or IP addresses logged by users from the Webmail portal. If more than one user blacklists or safelists the same domain, you may want to include a rule across your entire domain.
